About Us
We're Marianne and Mel, the musical duo behind Sisters in Song. Our journey as a duo together began in 2024, but our sisterhood and individual musical paths started long before that.
Mel brings her expertise as a dedicated music and singing teacher, with formal training from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and qualifications in guitar, violin, piano, bagpipes and vocals. Her extensive performance experience includes touring internationally with the National Youth Choir of Scotland, with highlights such as performing at New York's Carnegie Hall. She has also appeared as a member of both NYCOS and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland for the BBC Proms. Notably, Mel's unique claim to fame is having played alongside Cliff Richard in his most recent promotional video.
Marianne is a versatile performer whose background blends classical training with theatrical expertise. Qualified in music, singing, and violin, she has dedicated the past decade to stage performance. Her notable career highlights include the honour of performing at the Royal Albert Hall for the Royal Variety Show last year, marking the 20th anniversary of Les Misérables. She has also taken on key roles such as Nancy in Oliver, Emily in Elf, Paulette in Legally Blonde, and Justice in Rock of Ages at the Kings Theatre. Outside of traditional theatre, Marianne is a popular entertainer at tribute nights, specialising in shows dedicated to Queen and The Greatest Showman.
Though we've both been performing at weddings since 2016 as solo artists, coming together as Sisters in Song has allowed us to create something truly special, fusing violin and vocals.
